What is Dare 2 Be Rare™?

Remember when you were a kid and your friend dared you to do something out of the ordinary? You may have felt a rush of adrenaline… maybe even a little bit of excitement. Dare 2 Be Rare™ will bring out the kid in you again.

Started by the iBellieve Foundation, the Dare 2 Be Rare™ campaign is raising awareness for Rare Disease and research funding for Mucopolysaccharidosis II (MPS II or Hunter Syndrome).

A #RareDare is an extraordinary action—something you wouldn’t do everyday. Maybe it’s eating a glob of wasabi, quitting smoking or wearing a gorilla suit to work.

How do I participate?

It’s simple. One person (the Daror) challenges another person or group (the Daree) to a #RareDare and the Daror commits to donating or fundraising if the Daree accepts. All dares must be completed within one month of the #RareDare being made. Don’t forget to keep the chain going – once you accept your dare, dare someone else and pass it on!

Get creative and take action – we #RareDare you!

  • Does not involving bullying or shaming
  • Does not involve the abuse of illegal or harmful substances

Why Support Rare Diseases?

Rare disease doesn’t mean people are rarely affected. In fact, 350 million people worldwide suffer from rare diseases. If all of those people lived in one country, it would be the third most populous country in the world!

Despite the number of people diagnosed with a rare disease, they often have poor access to care and treatment. Rare disease organizations, including the iBellieve Foundation, lack funds to invest in research and drug development to support patients and families.  That’s why we need your help.

If all of the people with rare diseases lived in one country, it would be the world’s

3rd most populous country.

Mucopolysaccharidosis II (MPS II or Hunter syndrome) affects approximately 2000 people worldwide.

The iBellieve Foundation will donate a portion of the proceeds raised from the Dare 2 Be Rare™ campaign to these rare disease organizations.
